The Author

After training as a marine engineer Graham Watkins followed a
successful career in sales and marketing until 1989 when, with his
wife, he started a business distributing retail and catering equipment.
The company was successful and grew steadily until it was sold, in
2003, to a Plc. The experience of negotiating the sale of the business
made him realise how poorly prepared they had been for handling such an
important transaction. It took Graham and his wife three years to groom
the business until it was ready for selling, find the right buyer and
negotiate the deal they wanted.
Researching the subject Graham discovered there was virtually nothing
written to explain how to prepare and sell a company. The few books
that were available were all complicated textbooks, written by
accountants or lawyers.
Retired from business, Graham now lives, with his wife, in a rambling
farmhouse in the Brecon Beacons and pursues his interests, which are
travelling, farming for pleasure, public speaking and writing. |
